Every Journey Starts with a Conversation

From 17 January to 12 February 2026, over 200 Singaporeans from diverse backgrounds came together across six Listen In Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) sessions to share their everyday commuting experiences, needs and aspirations to help shape the next phase of our land transport system and better meet the evolving needs and aspirations of Singaporeans.

What We Heard

While every participant brought a unique perspective, three common aspirations emerged from the conversations.

🤝 Connecting People

Participants hoped for a transport system that keeps people connected to work, school, loved ones and everyday destinations.

To support this, they envisioned:

• Better connectivity, with more destinations served by public transport and more frequent services during peak hours.

• Smoother journeys, through direct travel options, improved walking and cycling connections, and more shared mobility choices.

• Smarter travel, using technology to provide real-time information and make journey planning easier.

😊 Comfortable Journeys

Beyond getting from place to place, participants wanted journeys that are safe, comfortable and stress-free.

They shared ideas such as:

• Giving greater priority to public transport and pedestrians, including wider footpaths and dedicated bus infrastructure.

• Creating safer neighbourhoods, with slower vehicle speeds in residential areas.

• Making journeys more pleasant, with more sheltered walkways and weather-protected bus stops.

❤️ Building Community

Participants saw transport as more than a way to travel. It is also where people and communities come together.

They envisioned:

• A more inclusive transport system that better supports families with young children, seniors and persons with mobility challenges.

• A kinder commuter culture, where people look out for one another in shared spaces.

• Transport nodes as community spaces, where people can connect beyond their daily commute.
